Opposites

He said “I am extraordinary. I am not like the others.” He was right. He defied conventions. He broke the rules and made his own. He didn’t care to please. He didn’t care to displease. He was in his world. His world centred around him, naturally. And if he felt like it, he even went to the movies alone.

She was ordinary. She was demure. She was passive. And the opinions of the world mattered to her. She never bought a dress without a second opinion. She never tried anything radical unless she had a friend for the ride. And sure as hell she never went to the movies alone.

But in a strange and yet predictable way they synced. Opposites attract after all. But the question is, ‘can they fall in love?’ Yes. He and she did. He and she were most definitely in love with one another. So opposites attract and opposites do fall in love. But now the question becomes, ‘can it last?’ He did not know. He could only hope it can. She did not know. She feared it cannot. And so the dreadful question remains unanswered. For now.
